Dark Fiber Indefeasible Rights of Use for the MassBroadband 123 Network
Summary:
The Massachusetts Broadband Institute (“MBI”), a non-divisible component of the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, is issuing this request for proposals (No. 2011-MBI-10) (“RFP”) seeking responses from any entity willing to offer long-term access to dark fiber strands to MBI. The MBI is currently undertaking the construction of approximately 1,000 miles of new middle-mile fiber optic network in western and north central Massachusetts in a project called MassBroadband 123. The MassBroadband 123 project will create a robust, fiber-optic network that will connect communities in western and north central Massachusetts with the goal of improving economic development within the network footprint.
