Patrick-Murray Administration, Congressional Delegation Celebrate $4.1 Million in Stimulus Funds for Broadband Assistance to Help Veterans and Small Businesses

WELLESLEY - Friday, October 1, 2010 - Continuing the Patrick-Murray Administration's commitment to supporting long-term economic growth and streamlining government services, Lieutenant Governor Timothy P. Murray today joined the Massachusetts National Guard and members of the veterans community to celebrate Massachusetts' receipt of $4.1 million in federal stimulus funding that will provide broadband assistance for veterans and small businesses, and also enhance mapping efforts to expand broadband infrastructure. Community Meeting in Dalton

WESTBOROUGH, MA – (September 17, 2010) – The Massachusetts Broadband Institute (MBI) will host a community meeting in Dalton to provide information and answer questions about the MBI’s planned network, MassBroadband 123, and how it will expand broadband access in western Massachusetts. The meeting will be held at the Nessacus Regional Middle School in the auditorium on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 from 7 to 9 pm.

Governor Patrick Continues To Push for Federal Funding To Expand Broadband in Western Massachusetts

State submits application for $45.4 million to bring high-speed Internet to unserved and under-served communities

BOSTON – Thursday, March 25, 2010 – Governor Patrick today announced that the state has submitted an application for $45.4 million in federal stimulus funding to expand broadband access in western Massachusetts. The application, called MassBroadband 123 and submitted by the Massachusetts Broadband Institute (MBI), a division of the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MTC), seeks funding under Round Two of the U.S. Department of Commerce's Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP).
